Sketches for an upcoming project. I am hoping to combine two of my passions, drawing on the iPad and scuba diving. There's an new housing for iPad just launched, designed specifically with scuba divers in mind. The iDive housing should mean I can take my iPad on a wreck dive and start sketching. I have the models, the venue, the safety diver and an underwater photographer to record it all on standby. Here's hoping the housing and the weather come up trumps. The 'Kitschen Cafe', Basingstoke, has opened its doors. Food "from the heart of the home".... ...They wanted a kitsch corporate ID and loyalty cards, so we were made for each other. I’m especially honoured that they are doing a heart decorated cupcake to match my logo. 'Like' it here…
BBC World News and bbc.com have recently completed an extensive global research study into how people consume news content and the multiple screens they use to do so. This is exciting information for BBC Advertisers and potential clients. The brochure 'leave-behind' needed to highlight the relationship between the devices and news that is consumed across multiple screens in one day. The chosen solution for 'Connecting the Story' has die cut windows representing a smart phone, a tablet, a laptop and a TV that reveal the key snippet of info on the inside back cover: 3HRS 24MINS are spent on average each weekday by the people surveyed, consuming news.
I've recently been doing quite a few sketches of buildings. Shown here 'The London' and 'Wooden It Be Lovely' in Southampton and 'The Sun Tavern' in London . I've been using that Paper App (by 53) on my iPad. The moody watercolour washes are ideal to get to get across the facade's richness and depth of colour.

A brand designed to be kitsch and flirty yet wholesome, using only natural ingredients. A full brand development, label design and product catalogue for sensitive skincare range 'Betty Buff' including natural scrubs, pamper packs and bath products.
Vanguard Strategy commissioned me to draw 13 illustrations for their new website. Half of these illustrated their client base in Beverages, Skincare, Automotive, Confectionary, (YUM!) Technology, Pharmaceutical and Financial sectors, the other half were sketchy cartoons illustrating their thinking. The famous brands had to be recognisable without actually advertising an particular logo. I got quite into creative textures such as the (Kenco) coffee granules and the shine on the various mobile devices. My favourite is probably the cosmetics banner.
Andark Aquanauts is a scuba diving programme for kids aged 8 to 12 years, where they can gain 'foundation course' in a safe pool with before taking a formal PADI, or BSAC scuba certificate. We wanted to keep the look fun. The basic 'Aquanaut' programme has its own tee shirt. Master aquanauts go on Aquamissions and qualify for a special red CADET tee once they have completed the 10 Master Aquanaut sessions. Find out more here.
Created for Powergen, Sparky the dog was part of an interactive recruitment quiz for graduates. The dog ran round a maze and would light up bulbs the more right answers the graduate gave. Light up all the light bulbs and win (Scooby) snacks. Simple but I love him.
ThoughtWorks Live Continuous Delivery is a 2 day user conference for customers and prospects. It has visibility globally and the graphics have to be tailored to the appropriate territory. Europe, Australia, Sanfrancisco and Chicago.

Being right at the heart of things near Covent Garden, makes ThoughtWorks London is an exciting place to work. This is part of an interactive map that give prospective employees a taster of the ThoughtWorks culture. It has animated rollovers to highlight ThoughtWorkers favourite POIs. It's development but I couldn't wait, link to follow.
While an art director at TMP Worldwide one of my key accounts was Coca Cola. Here is a selection of press ads aimed at recruiting sales people. Copy lines include: 'Successful People are always Well Red' 'Bigger Vision' and 'Bubbly People Wanted', 'Iced Lolly' and 'Rise to the Top'. The ‘Bigger Vision’ ad won a RAD (Recruitment Advertising). Award.
Working for a ‘diverse city’, this recruitment campaign promotes the attractive proposition of working for Brighton’s council to a London audience. The campaign comprises a brochure, web site, exhibition stand and a set of press and tube ads and a bespoke montage.
Mad animation stills from an YouTube ‘infomercial’ illustrated and art directed in collaboration with design agency 3Men and a Suit. Its advertising a business- to-business iPad app for dentists. For now we'll just call him 'Don-the-Dentist'.
Design for print and web, including branding and characters for the 'HomeFront Forces' charity web site. When built, British Armed Forces children will be able to to securely message and share photos with parents while on deployment. See web site in progress built by Plug and Play here.
ArtVaults is an annual project that opens the medieval vaults in Southampton to showcase the work of emerging artists. The last Art Vaults 'Art Vaults 4' centered around a website and had a supporting exhibit brochure, leaflet, exhibition panels and a t-shirt.www.artvaults.org.uk
A2 posters and flyers for London comedian Boe. ‘Mark my words’ and 'Did I Say That Our Loud?' shows. The Initial inspiration was the 1914 ‘Your country needs YOU’ war recruitment poster mixed in with a bit of graffiti grunge.
Comparing the effects and practicalities of sketching with watercolour pastels and pen versus the watercolour effects using Paper on the iPad. I came to the conclusion I like doing both but they have their place. Sand and sea may not mix well with the iPad and working with ink doesn't go well with a white shirt! A selection of these illustrations were used in Sunsail's Flotilla brochure.
ThoughtWorks is not your typical company. The describe themselves as 'custom software experts wholly devoted to the art and science of custom software.' This T shirt design aims to convey their unconventional thinking.
Web site and press work for inspirational lighting designer Bruce Munro. Each tower is built from 216 illuminated water bottles, which change colour in sync with a musical score. more about the installation
When Carte Blanche bought the Violent Veg brand they found themselves with boxes of Plasticine arms and legs, but no sets. Luckily I was in the right place at the right time. I spent a glorious six months building a dozen sets from scratch, sourcing the miniatures, and character modelling.
