Eastleigh Mardi Gras, all the fun of the carnival and Mardi Gras rolled into one! Since they seem to love my work so much I have adopted the Mardi Gras as my Pro Bono charity. For 2013 a bunch of celebrities have customised masks to be exhibited at the festival. Making a mask which would then be the basis of the the poster and advertising material seemed to be a no-brainer. The mask itself has integral coloured flashing lights and features some of the attractions on offer this year, Dr Who, Sci Fi Sunday, bands and dancing. There's a hand drawn colour-me-in version for the kids competition. The event's website is: eastleighmardigras
BBC World News and bbc.com have recently completed an extensive global research study into how people consume news content and the multiple screens they use to do so. This is exciting information for BBC Advertisers and potential clients. The brochure 'leave-behind' needed to highlight the relationship between the devices and news that is consumed across multiple screens in one day. The chosen solution for 'Connecting the Story' has die cut windows representing a smart phone, a tablet, a laptop and a TV that reveal the key snippet of info on the inside back cover: 3HRS 24MINS are spent on average each weekday by the people surveyed, consuming news.
Vanguard Strategy commissioned me to draw 13 illustrations for their new website. Half of these illustrated their client base in Beverages, Skincare, Automotive, Confectionary, (YUM!) Technology, Pharmaceutical and Financial sectors, the other half were sketchy cartoons illustrating their thinking. The famous brands had to be recognisable without actually advertising an particular logo. I got quite into creative textures such as the (Kenco) coffee granules and the shine on the various mobile devices. My favourite is probably the cosmetics banner.
ThoughtWorks is not your typical company. The describe themselves as 'custom software experts wholly devoted to the art and science of custom software.' This T shirt design aims to convey their unconventional thinking.

Created for Powergen, Sparky the dog was part of an interactive recruitment quiz for graduates. The dog ran round a maze and would light up bulbs the more right answers the graduate gave. Light up all the light bulbs and win (Scooby) snacks. Simple but I love him.
Under the tile 'Interactive Art Director' at TMP Worldwide I designed 65 different recruitment sites for the Mars Group. This concept, 'Mars Magic' was my favourite. As you moused over different locations across the globe, the coordinates would change and you would find out more about the various departments at Mars and different product lines.

I've recently been doing quite a few sketches of buildings. Shown here 'The London' and 'Wooden It Be Lovely' in Southampton. I've been using that Paper App (by 53) on my iPad. The moody watercolour washes are ideal to get to get across the facade's richness and depth of colour. More about the way I create them can be seen here http://pingsweetie.blogspot.co.uk
When Carte Blanche bought the Violent Veg brand they found themselves with boxes of Plasticine arms and legs, but no sets. Luckily I was in the right place at the right time. I spent a glorious six months building a dozen sets from scratch, sourcing the miniatures, and character modelling. The latest batch of Violent Veg cards from Carte Blanche, can be seen at www.violentveg.com (The Violent Veg logo is a registered trademark of Brandmaster Limited)
Being right at the heart of things near Covent Garden, makes ThoughtWorks London is an exciting place to work. Dragon Maker. Well, that's me. Gloria the Dragon is entirely my own creation, for personal enjoyment. I read a lot of Anne McCaffery when i was a student. Gloria was very much inspirel by a Pernese dragon. This is the first puppet I made with a wire armature. It was then padded, sewn and sequinned. I embroidered the wings and finished them off with feathery membranes, and added a cruel pointed dagger abalone shell. The faceted eyes are part of a car air freshener. There's been a few offers for the dragon already but the original is not for sale, it's sitting on my friend's mantle piece gathering a rather nice patina. I could make one if the price is right.
A2 posters and flyers for London comedian Boe. ‘Mark my words’ and 'Did I Say That Our Loud?' shows. The Initial inspiration was the 1914 ‘Your country needs YOU’ war recruitment poster mixed in with a bit of graffiti grunge.
I'd like to think the fact I've been on more than a handful of Sunsail Sailing Holidays led to the successful pitch for The Sunsail Brochure while working at Lawtons. In fact I have recently been doing more on Sunsail's Brochure. This time with sketchbook in hand. All of the sketches on Sunsail's page here
I've produced an annual Christmas card that featured toy pigs for a few years. The original room sets were reproduced with kind permission of minimumworld I've since produced cards and book concept with original roomsets and my own fully poseable puppets. See Pigs Might Fly.
